Investigators of the West Java Police narcotics unit have raided a house in Citra 2 housing complex in West Jakarta suspected to have been the location of a crystal methamphetamine factory.
Police arrested one suspect identified only as MS, 42, in the raid on Sunday, West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Cmr Hengki Haryadi said.
MS was apprehended when he was allegedly caught cooking the crystal meth inside the house. During the raid, investigators also confiscated evidence such as the raw materials, drug precursors and equipment alleged to have been used to produce the drugs.
West Jakarta Police narcotics unit chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Erick Frendiz said the suspect had been making the drugs since 2018.
The raid on Sunday was the result of a two-month investigation into suspicious activity in the house.
“When we were sure the suspect was making crystal meth, drugs unit personnel directly conducted the raid,” he said. (tru)
