ollowing President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and running mate Ma'ruf Amin's being declared president and vice president-elect, the spotlight falls once more on the President's prospective Cabinet.

After a nearly year-long bruising political fight for the presidency, Jokowi has indicated his openness to welcome the long-time opposition Gerindra Party into the government coalition.

In his speech after the General Elections Commission's (KPU) declaration on Sunday, Jokowi once again made gestures indicating reconciliation with his erstwhile opponents.

"I invite Pak Prabowo [Subianto] and Pak Sandiaga Uno to work together [with us] to develop the country," he said. "I am sure that they are both patriots who want this country to become stronger, more advanced, more just and more prosperous."

When asked whether his statement amounted to an invitation into his government, the president only reiterated that he was open for anyone to join him in developing the country.

"I still have to speak with the other parties in [my coalition]," he said.

Five of the parties that backed Jokowi during the presidential election - the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the Golkar Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the NasDem Party and the United Development Party (PPP) - have obtained seats in the House of Representatives for 2019 to 2024 and are expected to receive ministerial positions.
