The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) is hosting educational aviation festival Aerofest on Monday and Tuesday at the Aviation Technology Center (Pustekbang) in Rumpin subdistrict, Bogor, West Java.
“The festival is a celebration of the 8thanniversary of the Aviation Research and Development Division at LAPAN. Our main goal is to raise public awareness on the importance of technological development in the aviation field,” said LAPAN head Thomas Djamaluddin to Antara news agency on Monday.
He said that this year’s festival would emphasize the theme of building an aviation technology community network to strengthen an environment that is conducive for further advancements in the aviation industry and its supporters. Aerofest is an opportunity for stakeholders in the industry to gather and discuss.
On the first day, Aerofest will have activities such as a drawing competition, announcement of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle [UAV] design competition, disaster prevention, outer space exhibitions, water rocket launching, a mini planetarium, demonstration of a LAPAN’s very own UAV and social activities such as mass circumcisions, blood donation and a bazaar.
On the second day, there will be a discussion panel titled "Pre Aerosummit II" on the aviation world with industry experts and a number of ministries in preparation of the Aerosummit II that will be held in September. (bry)
