The lower airfare – up to a 50 percent discount from the ceiling price – will be applied three days a week, namely on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, for flights departing between 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
The government and airline operators have given assurances that starting July 11 air travelers can enjoy discounted airfares on domestic routes using low-cost carriers (LCC) on specific dates and times.
The lower airfare – up to a 50 percent discount from the ceiling price – will be applied three days a week, namely on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, for flights departing between 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Office of the Coordinating Economic Minister secretary Susiwojono said during the window, 208 LCC flights from two airlines, Citilink Indonesia and Lion Air, will feature lower airfares.
However, only 30 percent of the seats on every flight will have lower airfares applied.
“Citilink Indonesia will allocate lower airfares on 62 flights each day, on a total of 3,348 seats. Meanwhile, Lion Air will allocate [lower airfares] on 146 flights each day on a total of 8,278 seats,” said Susiwijono on Monday after a coordination meeting attended by Transportation Ministry officials, airlines representative and related stakeholders.
Regarding the routes that will offer discounted airfares, Susiwijono said further details would be announced later. The implementation of the policy would be monitored by the Transportation Ministry and be evaluated periodically.
