The Central Jakarta Bina Marga Road Agency revealed on Tuesday that it had allocated Rp 50 billion (US$3.5 million) to renovate 194 roads in the municipality.

“This is a periodical renovation conducted by the agency to ensure that all roads are safe for road users,” the agency’s road and bridge section head, Yudha Catur Suhartanto, said as quoted by kompas.com.

He went on to mention some of the roads that were undergoing renovation, namely Jl. Zainul Arifin, Jl. Tanah Abang 2, Jl. Cempaka Putih Raya, Jl. Besar, Jl. Senen, Jl. Kramat Sentiong, Jl. Teluk Betung and Jl. Kebon Kacang.

The projects are being carried out by contractors chosen through bidding processes.

“Although the roads are being revamped by contractors, the agency will supervise the process,” Yudha said, noting that the projects were expected to be completed by the end of this month. (vla)
