A

lthough its mass organization permit expired on June 20, the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) has still not fulfilled the administrative requirements for an extension, the Home Minister has said.

“According to the report from our directorate general, [the FPI] has only met 10 of the 20 administrative requirements," Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said on Monday at Bogor Palace in West Java, as quoted by kompas.com. He added that the ministry "was waiting" for the organization to finish submitting all required documents for the permit extension.

Tjahjo said that the remaining documents included the FPI's articles of association and bylaws (AD/ART) as well as an unsigned copy of its management structure.

The minister added that granting the group extra time to fulfill the administrative requirements was out of the question, as "it would be a violation".

Tjahjo denied that the government was being discriminatory toward the FPI, saying that the ministry treated all mass organizations the same when they applied for a permit extension.

Under the Home Ministerial Regulation No. 57/2017 on the registration and information system management of mass organizations, each permit is valid for five years. (awa)
