power outage hit Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, briefly disrupting the terminal’s services in the early hours of Monday.

Soekarno-Hatta spokesperson Febri Toga Simatupang said that the terminal had no power for 10 to 15 minutes: “Especially at domestic Terminal 3.”

The power outage stopped the baggage handling system during boarding and check-in.

“We had to do them manually,” Febri said as quoted by tempo.co on Monday.

The terminal area was also darkened because the power outage turned off the lights.

Febri said that almost all employees of the airport operator Angkasa Pura II were enlisted to help restore services to the affected terminal.

“We all went down to reduce the long queues,” Febri said.

The power outage hit the terminal at 4:58 a.m. A generator was turned on but it could not cover all the terminal areas, only the priority services.

Febri said that the airport’s technician immediately conducted maintenance on the airport’s electricity system.

“The maintenance took about 15 minutes [before the power could be turned back on],” he added.

Febri also said that the power outage did not disrupt flights at the airport and passengers were not delayed. (ami)
