Indonesia promoted the trade and investment relationship with Tanzania during the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), also known as Saba Saba Day, which ran from June 28 to July 13. The event, organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Tanzania, was opened by Tanzanian Vice President Samia Hassan Suluhu.

Hundreds of companies and institutions took part in the fair, exhibiting their products, such as agricultural machinery, textiles, food and beverages, electronic equipment and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

At the event, Indonesia showcased its various commercial products, such as textile products, soaps, lotions, body sprays, coconut milk and instant noodles. Among the Indonesian companies and their distributors that participated at the fair were PT Sinar Antjol, PT Softex, PT Priskila, Indofood and PT Sari Segar Husada.

Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania, Ratlan Pardede, said that Saba Saba Day was the biggest trade fair in Tanzania. The fair is organized in July every year. Ratlan noted that the excellent quality and competitive prices are key for Indonesian products to enter the market in Tanzania.

“The local people here have a very favorable response to Indonesian products, and they hope Indonesia will maintain for the excellent quality and competitive prices,” Ratlan said.

Tanzania has always been a potential partner for Indonesia. Tanzania has land borders with eight countries and is the leading country in the East African Community, a potential market of 478 million customers.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tanzania also encouraged other Indonesian companies and entrepreneurs to join the fair in the future to introduce their products to the market in Tanzania. “We’ll be pleased to welcome more Indonesian companies to Saba Day to promote local products and increase Indonesia’s exports,” said Ratlan.
