So far, the 23 high schools in the pilot project have implemented programs such as putting anticorruption materials and slogans in school subjects and revising any school regulations that could be vulnerable to corruption.
n a bid to promote early awareness about anticorruption, nearly 400 senior high schools in Central Java have committed to adopting anticorruption subjects in their school curriculum starting this academic year.
Central Java Education Agency head Jumeri said the implementation of anticorruption subjects at 390 senior high schools would be under the supervision of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Jumeri said that initially only 23 schools started implementing the curriculum in May 2019 as a pilot project. Later, 367 other schools joined the anticorruption drive.
The 390 schools, he said, represented 8.3 percent of the 4,670 senior high schools, including 3,129 senior vocational high schools, in the province.
“The 367 high schools, of which 160 are state-run, joined the program voluntarily,” Jumeri said, adding that the KPK would help supervise the anticorruption curriculum at the schools.
He said the 23 high schools in the pilot project would also share their experiences with other high schools in completing the program according to KPK guidance. An evaluation would be conducted every six months.
“We have the target of getting the 367 schools to implement the curriculum by the end of August,” he said.
