dding to a citizens' lawsuit on air pollution submitted by the Jakarta Legal Aid Foundation (LBH Jakarta), the Jakarta Residents Forum (Fakta) on Monday visited the Central Jakarta District Court to file another on the same matter.

Fakta is demanding the court declare the Jakarta administration and Governor Anies Baswedan guilty of having acted against the law by letting residents live in an unhealthy environment and failing to implement regulations that aim to address the problem.

Unlike the previous lawsuit, which addressed President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, three ministers and three governors, Fakta focused only on the Jakarta administration.

“The air pollution also affected other provinces and it became a national-scale problem, but there are 10 million people in Jakarta who breathe the polluted air every day and that’s our main concern,” Fakta head Azas Tigor Nainggolan said.

“The governor and his administration have failed to use their authority as policy makers to reduce the air pollution,” he added, highlighting the group's demands.

In the lawsuit, Fakta also called on Anies to publicly apologize and proceed with strategic measures to reduce the smog.

They also called on the city to better implement Bylaw No. 2/2005 on air pollution control, particularly the parts about regular emission tests and smoke-free areas. They also mentioned Bylaw No. 5/2014 in which the city set a maximum age for vehicles.
