The assailants were allegedly paid Rp 100,000 (US$7.30) to share between the two of them.
he police say a 45-year-old woman in Sungai Apit district, Siak regency, Riau, is suspected of masterminding a deadly assault on her husband by hiring two hit men.
The woman, a resident of Mengkapan village identified as Sinde Silitonga, allegedly paid the assailants Rp 100,000 (US$7.30) to be shared between the two of them, the Siak Police said.
Siak Police and Sungai Apit Police’s criminal investigation units uncovered the alleged murder plot after investigators arrested over the weekend two men suspected of beating Sinde’s husband, Marison Simaremare, 47, to death in a house where swallow’s nests were cultivated.
Marison, who was the caretaker of the house, was found dead after allegedly being beaten with wooden sticks by two men, who the police have identified as Roberto Manulang, 27, and Linus Hia Harefa, 21, inside the house at 1 a.m. on Saturday.
Sinde claimed that upon hearing loud noises, she promptly took the couple’s children outside to wait near some palm trees. She then reportedly went back inside after hearing her husband scream for help, where she said she found him trapped in a ditch with wounds on his head and legs.
Marison was rushed to the nearest community health center (Puskesmas) but died at about 7:30 a.m.
Sinde reported the case to the Sungai Apit Police, saying that her husband had been killed in a burglary attempt. The police said that they doubted Sinde’s claim that she had seen three men enter the house on the night of the incident because the building was in total darkness as the generator had not been working.
