Soekarno-Hatta airport embraces online ride-hailing after years of resistance

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, has shown its openness to embracing more ride-hailing services in its area after years of resistance in the form of stringent regulations and restrictions that forced passengers and drivers to play cat-and-mouse with the official taxis operating at the airport. Homegrown unicorn Gojek – in collaboration with state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) – has officially unveiled GoCar Instan, an alternative means of transportation specific to the Soekarno-Hatta airport. “We thank Angkasa Pura II for the warm welcome, as well as its willingness to adopt a technology that improves the mobility of airport customers,” Gojek co-founder Kevin Aluwi said in a statement on Tuesday.
