Police have stepped up their investigation into the death of Medan District Court judge Jamaluddin, 55, whose body was found inside his car midday on Friday in an oil palm plantation area in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra, with his hands tied up and bruises on his neck.
Police suspected Jamaluddin had been murdered and opened an investigation into the case.
At the end of last month, police probed the deaths of activists Maraden Sianipar, 55, and Martua Parasian Siregar, 42. Their bodies were found in a ditch behind a warehouse belonging to PT Sei Alih Berombang (SAB) about 200 meters apart.
North Sumatra Police have arrested an oil palm plantation owner believed to be the mastermind behind the suspected murders.
The arrest of the businessman, identified as WP, came after police apprehended four people believed to have been directly involved in the deaths, identified as DS, JH, VS and SH.
Meanwhile, Jamaluddin, who was also the spokesman of the Medan District Court, was found dead at an oil palm plantation in Namo Bintang hamlet, Suka Dame village, Kutalimbaru district in Deli Serdang.
