The charging stations to be manufactured by LEN Industri can recharge a battery from 0 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
tate-owned electronics manufacturer PT LEN Industri has the ability to produce electric vehicle charging stations using fast charging technology that meet the requirement to use 60 percent local components.
Director of operations Adi Sufiadi Yusuf said the charging stations to be built by the company would have a fast charging feature with 50-kilowatt DC CHAdeMo and DC CCS 2, as well as a 43-kW AC type 2 plugs.
With such technology, the charging stations can recharge a battery from 0 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes, he said. "We will use the charging technology developed by the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT)," at the launch of a charging station at LEN's office in Bandung on Dec. 23.
The charging station is built by LEN under its electric car charging station pilot program. BPPT has so far installed two charging stations, one in Jakarta and another one in Serpong, Banten.
LEN Industri will begin the commercial production of the charging stations when the market is economically viable. "We will build as many charging stations as the market needs going forward," Adi said.
Jakarta so far has charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) at the headquarters of state electricity company PLN in South Jakarta, at the company’s central distribution unit in Central Jakarta and at Senayan City shopping mall in South Jakarta.
Tangerang in Banten, Bandung in West Java and Denpasar in Bali have one station each. PLN also provided 3,000 charging units for electric motorcycles across the country.
