he Jakarta Traffic Police are committed to taking firm action against drivers taking part in illegal street racing on Jl. Pemuda in Senayan, Central Jakarta.
The traffic police’s law enforcement head, Sr. Adj. Comr. Fahri Siregar, said his team was patrolling the area as a “preemptive and preventive” measure.
Eleven drivers were caught during the police's operation on Saturday.
“We immediately ticketed those participating,” Fahri said.

They were charged under Article 297 of the 2009 law on traffic and land transportation, which stipulates that drivers participating in illegal racing could face a maximum one year in jail or a maximum fine of Rp 3 million (US$201,64).
The police confiscated the violators’ driver licenses and vehicle registration as part of the ticketing procedure, kompas.com reported. (Vny)
