Indonesia’s internet economy is expected to grow by 23 percent in the next five years. This growth increases the need for reliable data centers to support the digital sector. A recent study by Digital Realty and Eco-Business has projected that Southeast Asia will be the fastest-growing region for data centers, with 89 percent of experts involved in the study expecting significant data usage growth in the region over the next five years. However, academic journal Science wrote that data centers are energy-intensive enterprises, estimated to account for about 1 percent of worldwide electricity use and are expected to have significant implications for global energy demand.
