Ukraine has always been ready for negotiations on peace restoration, but not at the cost of our sovereign territories.
or the last two years, Ukraine has been fighting an enormously exhaustive and bloody war against the Russian Federation. But in reality, the military confrontation has been going on for 10 years, since the occupation of our sovereign territories in Crimea and Donbas.
Many nations that are based on the principles of humanity, justice and respect for the sovereignty of independent states, are helping the people of Ukraine defend their freedom and independence by fighting back against the aggressor.
But the war is also being waged on the diplomatic front. This front line also crosses Jakarta, where the so-called Russian "diplomacy" spares no effort to twist the realities of this war and disinform Indonesian society.
A recent example is an article by Russian Ambassador Lyudmila Vorobieva in the Jan. 26, 2024, edition of The Jakarta Post. Let me explain.
Vorobieva's first thesis: Financial and military assistance to Ukraine from partners will not end the war, but will only "delay the inevitable" and “prolong Ukrainian suffering”.
Reality: Helping Ukraine defeat the enemy might delay the defeat of the Russian invaders only if such help is severely insufficient or too slow. Russian occupation authorities resort to the practice of enforced disappearances, torture, inhuman or degrading treatments and punishments, systematic violations of the right to freedom and personal security and imprisonment.
Thesis No. 2: The "collective West" is to be blamed for all the sins of the world, including the destruction of "brotherhood" between Ukraine and Russia since the 1990s, awakening "neo-Nazism" and creating an "anti-Russia" in Ukraine.
