his year, Indonesian Christians celebrate Easter in a democratic party atmosphere, namely after the legislative and presidential elections, which were held on Feb. 14, coinciding with the first day of Lent, a spiritual journey for Christians to welcome the joy of Easter.
Is there a connection between the joy of Easter and the happiness of our democracy? How do we connect the joy of Easter and the happiness of democracy?
The joy of Easter is very real, given by God to His people in the long journey of the love story of Jesus who died to atone for human sins and restore the integrity of creation. This is what is joyfully echoed in the Easter Praise (Exultet).
Christians are invited to cheer and clap along with the angels of heaven to welcome Jesus Christ who is gloriously risen. At the Easter celebration, the Lord Jesus Christ passed from death to life. By his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ paid off the sinful debt of Adam’s descendants to God the Father. Jesus Christ paid the debt of sin with his holy blood.
