The high risk of contracting COVID-19 has prompted most dental clinics in Jakarta to impose stricter health protocols.
Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI) chair Sri Hananto Seno said in a press conference via YouTube on Sept. 21 that nine of the 115 dentists infected with COVID-19 had died from the coronavirus.
“Dentists are at high risk of contracting the coronavirus because patients have to take off their mask to allow the dentist to examine their teeth,” said Sri Hananto.
A dental clinic in Cipete, South Jakarta, for example, imposes stricter health protocols as a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.
