Stamp Fairtex, Buakaw Banchamek pay tribute to Muay Thai Stamp Fairtex (/,)

a href="https://onefc.com/athletes/stamp-fairtex" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Stamp Fairtex and Buakaw Banchamek recently appeared together at an event held to celebrate the collaboration between the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Royal Thai Army and their joint commitment to promoting the sport of Muay Thai.

The ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion stood alongside the striking legend as they celebrated the special event. Their presence was significant, as both athletes have helped bring Muay Thai to the attention of the world.

Stamp’s fighting career started when she was still a very young child, but by the time she was in her early twenties, she had already competed in nearly 100 bouts. The young star has drastically changed the landscape of women’s martial arts and became ONE Championship’s first-ever two-sport titleholder when she held the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Championships at the same time.

At only 24 years old, Stamp has faced some of the toughest opponents on the ONE roster, including Angela Lee, Janet Todd and Alma Juniku. The Thai athlete has more recently focused on MMA and has picked up an 8-2 record, along with the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship.

“As a ONE Championship champion, I am very grateful that the Sports Authority of Thailand gave me the chance to show my abilities in MMA, which are based on Muay Thai I’ve learned since [a] young age. I am who I am because of Muay Thai,” Stamp wrote on social media.

There is still much more that the Fairtex gym standout wants to accomplish in her career, and she does not have to look any further than her counterpart Buakaw for motivation.

Dressed in traditional garb and performing a Wai Kru for the event, Buakaw is seen as a national hero in Thailand. Only in his early 30s, the veteran fighter is one of the most decorated Muay Thai competitors the sport has ever known. Buakaw has won over 20 World Championships, including Lumpinee, Omnoi and WMC titles, and has close to 300 fights under his belt.

The two Thai athletes represent what is possible for the sport of Muay Thai and what is to come in its future.
