Wondergirl has high hopes for strawweight battle between Buntan And Sundell Wondergirl walks into the Cirlce

ondergirl will be watching ONE: Eersel vs. Sadikovic on April 22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium intently, knowing that she could face either of the two women competing the co-main event in the near future.

The card features many of ONE’s brightest stars, from the headliner Regian Eersel to the fierce French-Algerian Anissa Meksen. However, the two athletes Wondergirl is most eager to watch are Jackie Buntan and Smilla Sundell, who square off for the inaugural ONE women’s strawweight Muay Thai world championship.

Ahead of the bout, the 21-year-old phenom weighed in on the Filipino-American’s chances against the Swedish sensation.

“Jackie is an aggressive fighter who has power. Every punch, everything she throws out, is all power. And with tall and skinny people, their thighs [are] not that strong, as I have experienced. So if she can chop the tree, she will win, for sure,” Wondergirl said.

The Thai star has firsthand experience with Buntan’s power. The two met last year, with Wondergirl dropping a decision loss to the American after being sent to the canvas in the first round.

The Fairtex athlete also offered her thoughts on Buntan’s upcoming opponent and highlighted the tremendous opportunity Sundell had with fighting for the belt at such a young age.

“It's good for her to get this opportunity this early. Because if she wins, good for her. If she loses, she has lost nothing, because she's still young. Of course, she's taller. She was taller than me [when we trained at Fairtex]. She was even taller than my sister. And her punches are pretty accurate. She has a long reach. Her knees can reach right up to her opponent’s face with no struggle,” Wondergirl said.

Sundell, also known as “The Hurricane,” had a spectacular debut earlier this year when she defeated Diandra Martin via a technical knockout (TKO) in the third round.

Still only 17-years-old, Sundell will become one of the youngest female world champions in combat sports history if she scores a win in two weeks.

While the excitement is already palpable, fans will have to wait for the action to go down at ONE: Eersel vs. Sadikovic on April 22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
