s one of the most decorated Muay Thai fighters to come out of the United Kingdom, ONE Championship superstar Liam Harrison is already a legend in his own right. But he won’t be satisfied until he wins gold in the Singapore-based promotion.
“Hitman” will get his chance when he challenges ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The 36-year-old has had a plethora of impressive victories throughout his career, both inside and outside the ONE Circle, but his eyes are firmly set on the prize that his upcoming bout has on offer, and he believes he will cement his status if he succeeds.
“I’ve had a lot of great wins throughout my career. Great stoppage wins by KO. The Anuwat [Kaewsamrit] fight was massive, the [Andrei] Kulebin fight, too,” Harrison said.
“But winning the ONE title will solidify that [GOAT status]. I think it’s already solidified, to be fair, but I think when I win that fight, nobody will be able to touch me.”
The Leeds native’s rise in ONE has been dramatic, to say the least. After suffering losses in his first two outings in the Circle, Harrison was left considering his options. But in a true demonstration of his character, he gritted his teeth and came back in his third bout to score a devastating knockout against Mohammed “Jordan Boy” Bin Mahmoud in January 2020.
And after his latest appearance on the global stage, his route to the World Title was set. Harrison put on an astonishing performance against Muangthai PK.Saenchai in April, coming back from two knockdowns in the opening minutes to score a TKO victory before the end of the first round.
With that, he secured his shot at becoming the unbeaten divisional king, and as the date draws closer, “Hitman” is feeling ever more ready to put on another incredible display.
“Training is going well. We’ve set up a decent game plan and we’re looking into his style a bit more in-depth. I’m happy with how it is all going. I feel sharp, I feel strong, and I’m just looking forward to putting on a show,” Harrison said.
