But the debates miserably failed to generate a battle for great ideas because of the inadequate time allotted for discussing five important topics and the poorly designed structure of the debates.
On the eve of the presidential debate on energy, infrastructure and environment, our thoughts turn to Indonesia’s future on these vital and related issues. What forms of energy will our country use in the future: solar or coal? Will our roads and ports be climate-smart and resilient? Will we protect and restore our cherished natural environment, the only one we have?
Over the weekend, Jokowi made strong remarks slamming his rival in his speeches, ranging from criticizing Prabowo’s statement that Indonesia could become extinct to accusing the rival camp of using foreign consultants to prepare themselves for the election.
