View all search resultsIndonesia must export ready-to-use personal protective equipment (PPE) to South Korea as a form of compensation after the government bought raw materials from the country to meet domestic PPE production needs, COVID-19 task force chief Doni Monardo said.
Online health fund-raising platform WeCare's campaign, under the hashtag #APDuntukNegeri (#PPEfortheCountry), has raised Rp 8.1 billion (US$512,904) to buy personal protection equipment for 1,700 hospitals across the archipelago.
The government is confident about the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical workers in Indonesia, given that the domestic textile and garment industry has the capacity to produce 17 million pieces per month.
"We hope that the issuance of the Trade Ministry regulation can accelerate the entry of medical tools needed during the COVID-19 pandemic so that the availability of tools is fulfilled and there are no shortages," Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto said.
The medical equipment includes disposable masks, N-95 masks, protective clothing, goggles, gloves, shoe covers, infrared thermometers and surgical caps, which will be used by the country’s doctors and fast-response team for COVID-19.
