View all search resultsThe government is preparing the Nusantara International Airport in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to receive the Boeing Business Jet 2 presidential aircraft, with the airport construction expected to be completed by the end of this year to receive even larger aircraft.
Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority head Basuki Hadimuljono said the target was for work on ministerial infrastructure to wrap up by the end of October. Meanwhile, trials will be launched for the use of larger aircraft at Nusantara’s airport, according to the Transportation Ministry.
The new airport in Nusantara Capital City (IKN) will be more useful if it also serves passengers who want to go on haj, umrah (minor haj) and trips to and from the future capital city in East Kalimantan, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has said.
The government has merged the country’s two state-owned airport operators into one, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, in a bid to improve efficiency, and eventually cut logistics costs in the country, while at the same time improving profitability. After the merger the new entity is now called InJourney Airports, part of giant state-owned aviation and tourism holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney).
