The Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP) has announced that it will form a public relations team following the controversy surrounding agency head Yudian Wahyudi’s offhand remark on the supposed friction between religion and state ideology Pancasila.
As per President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s instructions, the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP) is planning to promote values of the state ideology, Pancasila, through video platforms popular among the nation’s youth, such as YouTube and TikTok.
“Minority groups want to oppose Pancasila and appear as the majority. This is dangerous. If we’re being honest, Pancasila’s biggest enemy is religion, not tribalism,” Yudian said as quoted by detik.com on Wednesday.
President Jokowi has appointed UIN Sunan Kalijaga rector Yudian Wahyudi as the newest chairman of the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education. Yudian replaces Yudi Latif, who stepped down from the position in early June 2018.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo appeared to be speaking the language of the youth as he ordered the streamlining of the values of the state ideology, Pancasila, to tap into media familiar to the country’s younger generations.
The State Palace has received the resignation of Yudi Latif as the top executive of the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP), formerly known as the presidential working unit on the implementation of Pancasila state ideology (UKP-PIP).
