View all search resultsThe case began earlier this month when a social media user shared deepfake pornographic videos featuring the faces of teachers and students from SMAN 11 Semarang on X, using the caption “Scandal Smanse,” referring to the school’s nickname.
In Central Java, protesters responded by burning and vandalizing multiple regional legislative council (DPRD) buildings and police stations across the province. Cities affected included Kediri, Pekalongan, Surakarta, Brebes, Jepara and Magelang.
Central Java Police Deputy Chief Brig. Gen. Usman Latief said authorities arrested 888 men and 28 women during a province-wide operation from May 12 to 31, targeting gangs, rogue mass organizations and street crime.
According to authorities, Brig. Eka Zidan, a Central Java Police officer, was allegedly captured by a group of protesters while going undercover at the May Day rally outside the Central Java governor’s office. He was reportedly detained for several hours at a Diponegoro University campus in Pleburan.
The incident attracted widespread public attention, with artists and netizens expressing their support for the band on social media using the hashtag #KamiBersamaSukatani (we are with Sukatani), often accompanied by the slogan “ACAB,” which stands for “all cops are bastards”.
