View all search resultsAccording to the chronology confirmed by the Foreign Ministry, the Indonesian crewman – identified only by his initial H – died on Jan. 16 when the ship was in Somalian waters. The ministry, however, did not obtain further details regarding the cause of death. H’s body was reportedly thrown into the sea on Jan. 23.
The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran stated the crewmen had been jailed for the past four months for an illegal oil shipment and had been neglected by their employer, the shipowner who is residing in Singapore, until their release.
EP was among four Indonesian sailors registered to Chinese fishing vessel Long Xin 629 who died between December 2019 and April this year after allegedly enduring poor working conditions aboard the ship.
