Several houses owned by state officials and House of Representatives lawmakers as well as police stations and public facilities were damaged during protests unfolding in Jakarta and other regions across the country in the past few days, with at least three people killed during an escalated rally.
In the latest extortion scandal to rock the National Police, its oversight body has demanded strict punishment for six Makassar officers alleged of illegally arresting, assaulting and extorting a South Sulawesi man late last month.
