The company had stopped sending inspectors in April, when Jakarta first entered lockdown, which caused household electricity bills to jump over the following months, triggering public outcry and a government investigation.
Indonesia’s capital Jakarta entered another period of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) on Monday with most office workers forced to once again shelter in place, but some remain unconvinced that the curbs will be able to contribute much to their protection – unless there is strict enforcement.
A survey by management consulting company Redseer in August found that more than half of Indonesian respondents said their spending on e-grocery platforms had increased during the pandemic, while up to 60 percent said they would continue to buy groceries online in the future.
