The IFR believes this can potentially change the structure of the global value chain and affect international trade flows and investment.
Technology innovations shift careers and markets. However, today the impact of the self-learning robot, AI and other innovations on the job market is uncertain. The latest digital tools are targeting middle class, managerial jobs — an evolution that makes people worried.
“Indonesia’s labor force growth rate is slowing, which means that it will need to rely more heavily on productivity gains like those that automation provides,” the Alpha Beta-Prospera researchers wrote. Statistics Indonesia data show that Indonesia’s workforce growth has stagnated at less than 1 percent annually since 2011.
