During a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Manet, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday discussed possible bilateral efforts to increase trade and investment, as well as rice imports, as ways to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Jakarta and Phnom Penh.
On his first visit to Indonesia since his return the the premiership in July of last year, Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao also thanked Jakarta for its support of the country's membership in ASEAN.

Trade between the two countries amounted to US$2.7 billion in 2022, a 38 percent increase from the previous year. The rise in trade volume was thanks to the entry into force of the Indonesia-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in November 2021.
