View all search resultsFerdian Paleka and his two friends were arrested in early May after garnering public outrage with a viral video showing them pulling a "prank" by giving fake staple food donations in the form of boxes containing garbage to transwomen.
In the video, apparently recorded inside a Bandung Police jail, Ferdian and two of his friends who had also been arrested for their part in the prank were stripped to their underwear and told to do physical exercises such as push-ups and squat jumps by their fellow detainees.
Four transwomen who fell victim to Ferdian Paleka's prank reported the vlogger to the police after receiving the fake staple food donations. “[We were] treated like trash," one of the victim said.
From Thailand to India, countries have told people not to make April Fools' Day pranks related to coronavirus, with some threatening jail time as they seek to prevent the spread of rumors which could put lives at risk.
