Judge Eman Sulaeman argued that the police made several mistakes during Pegi's investigative processes, including failing to question Pegi before naming him as a suspect. The name of “Pegi Setiawan, alias Perong” was on the police’s wanted list for eight years.
The South Jakarta District Court has thrown out the charges against the former deputy law and human rights minister, citing a procedural error by the KPK in gathering sufficient preliminary evidence to name Eddy as a suspect in a bribery case.
The judge argues that the plaintiff has mixed up formal and nonformal materials which is beyond the court's authority. Firli has also presented irrelevant pieces of evidence, making the reason behind the pretrial motion unclear or vague, according to the judge.
