ome 400 taxis in London have been promoting Indonesia's tourism advertisement placed on their sides since Oct. 17 as part of the Tourism Ministry's latest attempt to lure more tourists to the archipelago. The marketing campaign is scheduled for one month.

The ads are said to include images of potential destinations, such as Borobudur Temple, Mount Bromo and Lake Toba. There is also an illustration of a woman carrying gebogan (ritual foods) with paddy fields as the background, as reported kompas.com. Alongside the pictures is the Wonderful Indonesia logo and website address.

“This promotion aims to invite Londoners or visiting tourists to come to Indonesia,” the ministry’s foreign tourism marketing development communications head Elizabet Hutagaol said in an official statement.

Similar promotion was conducted last year, but only on 190 London black cabs.

Aside from taxis, the government also advertises Indonesia's tourism on the city's 640-square-meter billboard. The archipelago's destination images are also slated to be advertised on five buses in London from Oct. 31 to Nov. 27. (kes)
