A workshop discussing the competitiveness index of Tanjung Lesung, one of the Tourism Ministry’s 10 prioritized tourism destinations, was recently held at Ratu Hotel in Banten on April 20 to 22.
“The assessment of 10 prioritized tourism destinations in Indonesia is done quantitatively. This workshop aims to expand the knowledge and understanding of the relevant parties regarding the need to improve the competitiveness index of our tourism, especially in Banten regency,” said the ministry's deputy director of marketing strategy Ganda Sumantri during his opening remarks.
The workshop was opened by the performance of the traditional Warnane Banten dance from Sanggar Reksa Budaya and attended by 53 participants, some of whom were representatives from Banten province, Central Java, Probolinggo and Yogyakarta.
Acting as the speaker on the first day of the workshop was Riant Nugroho, the ministry’s public policy special staff member, who discussed the policy of the tourism competitiveness index.
The next morning, there were two other speakers who spoke at the event, namely the head of the acceleration team for the 10 priority tourist destinations, Ida Irawati, and Jacky Mussry of MarkPlus, Inc.
“From this two-day event, I hope an action plan can be formed to improve the competitiveness index of Tanjung Lesung,” said Sumantri.
The second and third leg of the workshop is going to be held on May 4 to 6 in Tanjung Kelayan and on May 22 to 24 in Labuan Bajo. (kes)
