Nglinggo Tourist Village in Kulon Progo regency, Central Java, is home to many interesting natural attractions.

One of them is the Ngilinggo Tea Plantation, which is nestled on Ngisis hill at the height of 900 meters above sea level. The summit of Ngisis hill offers stunning views of Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing and Sindoro mountains, as well as other small mountains around it.

Many people visit the village simply to catch the sunrise from the top of Ngisis hill.

Situated 40 kilometers from Yogyakarta, adjacent to Magelang and Purworejo regencies, the village offers breathtaking views of green paddy fields, winding rivers and mountains. Those who wish only to explore the tea plantation, waterfall and the hill’s summit only need to pay an entrance fee of Rp 5,000 (less than 50 cents), while those seeking to visit picturesque spots on Ngisis hill will be asked to pay Rp 3,000 per person at the entrance gate of the hill.

The village provides outdoor adventure tour packages and sunrise tours for tourists, as well as up to 50 homestays that offer cultural attractions for those coming in big groups.

One of the homestays, Homestay Rimbono, features the standard “24-hour” package for the price of Rp 2.5 million for 10 people.

The package includes welcome drinks, sunset watching from 4:30 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m. followed by a barbecue until 10 p.m.

The next day, at 4:45 a.m., guests will be taken by jeep to watch the sunrise from Ngisis hill, followed by a trip to Mount Jaran located 1,000 meters above sea level.

After breakfast at 7 a.m., the trip continues with an educational tour of the tea house located in the middle of Nglinggo Tea Plantation, where tourists will be taught about tea harvesting and processing. Around 8 a.m. the group will visit the Watu Jonggol Waterfall and spend around an hour there before returning to the homestay.

At 10 a.m., the visitors will once again hop on an off-road jeep and go to the pine forest and explore the area for 1.5 hours before returning to the homestay. The package will end with the guests having lunch at 12 p.m. and checking out at 1 p.m. (kes)
