inter in South Korea is from December to February. With average temperatures of -6 to 3 degrees Celsius,  winds can be very strong during the period.

However, travelers can still enjoy outdoor activities by visiting festivals during their winter holidays.

Below are three recommended winter festivals according to the Korea Tourism Organization:

Pyeongchang Trout Festival

Taking place at Jinbu-myeon city in Gangwon province, this year’s Pyeongchang Trout Festival will be held for 35 days from Dec. 22 to Feb. 25 next year, or before and throughout the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Visitors can partake in different activities during the event, including trout fishing, ice skating, ATV and snow rafting. The freshly caught trout can also be prepared and served in restaurants near the venue.

Trout itself is known to be nutritious and delicious, especially when it is consumed raw.
