ourism Ministry’s Wonderful Indonesia is participating in Wonderful Sabang & Marine Expo 2017 held at CT III Terminal Sabang on Dec. 1–5.

This event serves as a part of Sail Sabang 2017.

The Wonderful Indonesia brand occupies 10 booths at the event that are designed to look like a phinisi traditional boat. The total area of the booth is 90 square meters and located at Block C, no. 97 to 101 and 124 to 128.

Meanwhile Wonderful Sabang and Marine Expo 2017 occupies 3.2 hectares of land.

Available at the booth are tourism agencies from Raja Ampat and Aceh, tourism information center, quiz activity, workshop on ceramic painting, 360-degree virtual reality, photo booth, photo exhibition and B2C exhibition.

“We will use this event to promote UMKM [micro, small and medium enterprises], creative industry, culture and traditional food to visitors and yachters at Sail Sabang 2017,” said the ministry's Southeast Asia tourism promotion assistant deputy, Rizki Handayani.

“Bugis sailors traveled the world with phinisi to Asia, Africa, Australia, United States and Europe. This boat has a very traditional design and can represent Indonesian identity; that’s why we consistently use this design in all international travel market events,” said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

The phinisi boat also represents Indonesia as the world’s largest archipelago and fits the vision and mission of President Jokowi who puts maritime in the top five of priority development list.

Moreover, the ministry’s 10 Priority Destination consists of seven destinations that are known for their marine tourism. (kes)
