Tour operator Walk Japan has recently launched its 10-day tour of the Seto Inland Sea.
Dubbed the Inland Sea Odyssey, the tour intends to bring travelers to explore the ins and outs of the region’s art, architecture and gourmet dining.
In an email The Jakarta Post received on Monday, Walk Japan said that the walking tour was loosely based on The Inland Sea, the acclaimed travel memoir by the late American writer, Donald Richie. Similar to the author's journey, participants of the Inland Sea Odyssey will travel from island to island, exploring the landscape, meeting the local people and being exposed to Japanese history, society and culture.

During the tour, travelers will learn about the Seto Inland Sea’s history from eras covering the Silk Road, samurai warlords and pirates, as well as insights into 19th-century western explorers, Japanese and western movies, modern art and architecture.
Those joining the tour also have an opportunity to meet renowned Japanese artists, architects and film directors, including Yayoi Kusama, Yukinori Yanagi, Toyo Ito and Tadao Ando, along with award-winning Japanese architecture firm SANAA.
Inland Sea Odyssey is an easy walking and fully guided tour offered for JPY580,000 (US$5,420.56). (jes/wng)
