Lampung Krakatau Festival is expected to welcome at least 5,000 foreign and 20,000 domestic tourists, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has said.
Bandar Lampung and South Lampung in Lampung province are set to host Lampung Krakatau Festival from Aug. 20 to 26.
The event is expected to welcome 5,000 foreign tourists and 20,000 domestic tourists, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said.
"Lampung Krakatau Festival is the only event in Lampung province that is part of the 100 Calendar of Events Wonderful Indonesia program this year. Hopefully, it can help to bring in more tourists to Lampung," Arief said during the event's launch in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
Krakatau was the perfect tourist destination for Lampung, as it already possessed a strong brand globally, Arief said.

Meanwhile Lampung Governor Ridho Ficardo said the festival aimed not only to increase the number of tourist arrivals, but also strengthen Krakatau's brand.
"This event has to become an interesting tourist attraction as well as promotion platform for tourist destinations while still highlighting and preserving the region's authentic art and culture," he said.
The four main activities scheduled for the festival are Pesona Kemilau Sai Bumi Ruwa Jurai from Aug. 20 to 25, Lampung Krakatau Expo from Aug. 20 to 26, Krakatau Trip on Aug. 25 and Lampung Culture and Tapis Carnival on Aug. 26. (saz/kes)
