View all search resultsYogyakarta's Festival of Lights boasts a sky rink, air balloon and other attractions to celebrate the year-end.
Yogyakarta serves as one of the country's most popular year-end holiday destinations.
Until Jan. 20, 2019, visitors have the additional treat of enjoying the ongoing Festival of Lights at Gardu Pandang Kaliurang in Sleman regency, according to a report by kompas.com.
Located near Mount Merapi volcano, the festival offers colorful lights and air balloons that can fly up to 30 meters into the sky. The air balloon attraction is open to the public from 5 p.m. with ticket prices starting at Rp 75,000 (US$5.15) per person. However, visitors should note that the balloon will only operate when the weather is bright with low wind speed.

Another attraction that can be enjoyed is a sky rink, which also rents out skating equipment like boots and helmets. Tickets for the sky rink start from Rp 40,000.
Those coming to celebrate New Year's Eve can also expect to enjoy fireworks.
Managed by Taman Pelangi, the festival is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on weekends. Entrance is Rp 20,000 on weekdays and Rp 25,000 on weekends. (wir/kes)
