'Hunger Games', 'Divergent' attractions to open this summer in China

With doors to the world's first vertical indoor amusement park and Asia's first indoor movie-themed attractions set to open this summer, Lionsgate Entertainment World divulged more details about the new interactive experiences based on "The Hunger Games", "Divergent" and "Now You See Me".

ith doors to the world's first vertical indoor amusement park and Asia's first indoor movie-themed attractions set to open this summer, Lionsgate Entertainment World divulged more details about the new interactive experiences based on popular film franchises like The Hunger GamesDivergent and Now You See Me last week at the IAAPA Expo Asia in Shanghai.

Film studio Lionsgate is getting ready to open its highly anticipated new theme park Lionsgate Entertainment World at Novotown Hengqin, a major tourism and entertainment development project on Hengqin island in Zhuhai near Hong Kong and Macau. 

Spanning 22,000 square meters, the indoor amusement park will feature 30 attractions, including rides that take guests into some of the fantastical worlds of the studio's biggest blockbusters. 

Aboard the "Hunger Games-Mockingjay Flight" riders are made part of the rebellion and fly over Panem in a 3D motion simulator. 

Twilight fans can race with Jacob and the Black Pack wolves on a VR dirt-bike adventure on "The Twilight Saga: Midnight Ride" that allows for interactions with friends and family.

Thrillseekers can also time travel to Ancient Egypt aboard "Gods of Egypt: Battle for Eternity" on a high-speed VR roller coaster. 

"Now You See Me and Escape Plan will also feature at the site, where guests will be engaged "through story-telling and cutting-edge technology" and will be able to "challenge themselves physically and mentally, and become the hero of their own stories," outlined Selena Magill, General Manager of Lionsgate Entertainment World.

Lionsgate Entertainment World is set to open in China this summer. The studio is also poised to open a similar outdoor version of its movie-themed amusement park this summer in South Korea. 

Lionsgate Movie World at Jeju Shinhwa World, Korea will span 122,000 square meters on the resort island of Jeju.
