Garuda Indonesia aims to draw UK tourists to Lake Toba with Bali-Medan-London route
Tourists from the United Kingdom are especially targeted due to the convenience offered by the direct flight.

he opening of Garuda Indonesia's new service connecting Bali and London via Medan, North Sumatra, is expected to boost tourist arrivals from Europe to the province, especially Lake Toba in Samosir regency.
"Thanks to the new route, London now is connected to the city of Medan and Denpasar in Bali," the national flag carrier's regional CEO for Sumatra, Berthon Hutapea, said on Thursday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Tourists from the United Kingdom are especially targeted due to the convenience offered by the direct flight.
The Medan-London route also aims to support the government's program to promote Lake Toba as one of Indonesia's 10 priority tourist destinations.

As reported by tempo.co, the new service is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The flight departs from Kualanamu International Airport in Medan and Heathrow airport in London at 12:40 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. local times, respectively.
The route will be served by an Airbus A330-200, which can accommodate 222 passengers in economy and business class, and take around 13 hours and 20 minutes.
Other than London, Kualanamu airport currently serves four other international routes, namely Hong Kong, Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and Singapore. (kes)
