Jokowi says China sees ASEAN as central to peace in Indo-Pacific

resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said on Thursday that China sees the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as central to peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
He made the remarks while visiting China to attend the opening ceremony of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu.
"The People's Republic of China supports ASEAN centrality for the creation of peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region," Jokowi said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping meanwhile said that China is willing to deepen its strategic cooperation with Indonesia in a meeting with Jokowi Thursday.
Jokowi is visiting China to attend the opening ceremony of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu.
China and Indonesia should ensure the high-standard completion of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway as it nears commercial operation, Xi told Jokowi.
