Taiwan is providing various incentives to entice tourists to visit the island, including those from Indonesia, such as a lucky draw, SIM cards and halal establishments.
aiwan is inviting more Indonesian tourists to visit the island, citing convenient flight connections, the availability of halal-friendly establishments and a plethora of things to do in the self-ruled territory.
“Before the COVID 19 pandemic, we had some 213,000 visitors from Indonesia in 2019,” Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Jakarta director Abe Chou Shih-pi told The Jakarta Post recently.
“For the period from January to August this year, we had some 150,000 visitors from Indonesia, a rise of about 16.39 percent. So, we are confident this year the figure will be higher than the pre-COVID figure.”
Chou was speaking on the sidelines of an event to promote Taiwan tourism at Chillax Sudirman in South Jakarta. The organizer had stalls selling well-known Taiwanese snacks and beverages to visitors.
During the event on Nov. 28, the Taiwan Tourism Authority launched a cooperation with top Indonesian illustration team Tahilalats in promoting Taiwan by creating drawings of iconic tourist and cultural heritage sites in Taiwan in a campaign called “Menyala Taiwan-ku” (My Taiwan Lights Up).
The campaign involves 310 cars, adorned in illustrations by Tahilalats, roaming Jakarta streets, especially the main thoroughfare Jl. Jenderal Sudirman. Another 10 buses will display the theme “Taiwan Waves of Wonder”.
