Prabowo arrived at Amman’s Marka Air Force Base at around 6 p.m., with his presidential plane escorted by two fighter jets. He was welcomed on the tarmac by King Abdullah II, who then invited him to share a ride to his hotel. In a rare gesture of warmth, the King took the wheel himself, with Prabowo seated beside him in the front passenger seat.
At the hotel, the President was greeted by members of the Indonesian diaspora, who expressed their appreciation for his attention to the Palestinian issue and his diplomatic efforts to seek lasting peace in the region.
Official statements described Jordan’s warm reception and the King’s gesture as “a reflection of the personal closeness between the two leaders [...] and an affirmation of the importance of ties between Indonesia and the Middle East.”
The Presidential Secretariat’s protocol, press and media deputy, Yusuf Permana, said on Sunday that Prabowo was scheduled to visit the Al-Husseiniya Palace at 1 p.m., where the President would conduct a tête-à-tête with the King.
“After that, there will be the signing of several memorandums of understanding,” Yusuf went on to say.
