Prabowo arrives in Washington for bilateral, Board of Peace meetings

President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend the first leaders' meeting of Board of Peace and sign the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) on Feb. 19.

resident Prabowo Subianto landed in Washington DC, the United States on Tuesday to attend a bilateral meeting with his US counterpart President Donald Trump and the inaugural Board of Peace meeting.

The presidential plane landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday 11:55 local time, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat. 

Upon disembarking the plane, Prabowo was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defense Attache in Washington Air Cdre. E. Wisoko Aribowo and the US Air Force’s 89th Maintenance Group Commander Col. Gary Charland. 

The President and his entourage, which included Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, immediately headed to the hotel in Washington, DC. 

In Washington, Prabowo is slated to attend the first meeting of the US-led Board of Peace, slated for Wednesday, that is set to oversee Gaza’s interim administration despite lacking an elected Palestinian representative as well as coordinate and supervise aid distribution in the war-torn enclave.

Indonesia officially joined the board in January during a charter signing held by Trump on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
