T

he United Arab Emirates reiterated its commitment to diplomacy and de-escalation measures for the United States-Israeli war on Iran in a conflict that the country’s envoy in Indonesia called a matter of security and international law rather than religion.

Since the US-Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, the UAE has been in active engagement with officials of other countries. In Indonesia, the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri engaged with President Prabowo Subianto and Foreign Minister Sugiono.

The Middle Eastern country prioritized “responsibility over reaction [and] cooperation over conflict,” the ambassador said during a gathering hosted at the UAE Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“We keep pushing for de-escalation, ceasefire and [conflict] resolution through diplomatic ways. We don’t want escalation,” Al Dhaheri went on to say.

Several Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, have been constantly hit by Iran’s retaliatory strikes.

Iran initially claimed its strikes only targeted US bases and facilities in those countries. But the attack later targeted both military and civilian infrastructure in the region, as reported by AFP.
