ndonesia and nine other countries have condemned Israel’s interception of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla as a “blatant” breach of international law, while demanding the immediate release of activists detained during the humanitarian mission, including five Indonesians.
In a joint statement released on Monday, the foreign ministers of Turkey, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Pakistan and Spain denounced what they described as repeated Israeli attacks on peaceful humanitarian initiatives, urging the international community to take concrete steps to end impunity and ensure accountability for such violations.
“The ministers express serious concern regarding the safety and security of the civilian participants of the flotilla and call for the immediate release of all detained activists, as well as for full respect for their rights and dignity,” the statement said.
Outrage over Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international civilian convoy seeking to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid, intensified again this week after Israeli forces intercepted 41 vessels on Tuesday.
Ten boats were still sailing toward Gaza as of Tuesday, Reuters reported. The flotilla had departed southern Turkey on Thursday in its third attempt to reach the enclave, after previous aid missions were intercepted by Israel in international waters.

Since Israel launched its military offensive in Gaza following the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, the territory has faced severe shortages of food, medicine and other essential supplies, with aid deliveries at times entirely blocked.
